Portions of Deseret Ranches’ roughly 290,000 acres contain or border valuable natural treasures. The St. Johns River floodplain, which hosts examples of some of the most spectacular ecosystems in Florida, nestles quietly along the eastern border of the Ranch. Other significant environmental areas on the Ranch include the headwaters to the Econlockhatchee River on our northwestern border and other areas that are home to important plants and wildlife. We love these areas and they are what they are today because of our management practices.

- Model for responsible and sustainable environmental management
The Ranch’s operations have been a model for responsible and sustainable environmental management. Examples of its innovative practices include the award-winning Jug Island Reservoir, the use of surface water for irrigation rather than underground sources, spectacularly preserved palm hammocks, and one of the state’s largest Wood Stork Rookeries. |
