Despite its location near the Orlando International Airport, as well as being centrally located between Orlando, the Space Coast, and Melbourne, Deseret has not initiated development. Nevertheless, the region has looked to the Ranch to solve needs beyond agriculture. Numerous utilities such as natural gas, electrical, telecommunications, and water have either constructed their facilities on or placed lines through the Ranch. The City of Cocoa is using water from the Ranch to meet the City’s needs. The 4000 acre Taylor Creek Reservoir was created by State and federal agencies for flood control and agricultural purposes on lands Deseret donated. Several major roads, such as the Beachline, Highway 520, and Nova Road have been built across the Ranch.
